The Ty’n Rhos Country House Hotel in Snowdonia is a very rare find, and one that has a very established following of visitors to the Wales area… and also the locals too! When you mention the Ty’n Rhos Country House Hotel in Snowdonia around the North Wales area, locals speak very highly of its reputation due to the fact that its charming restaurant has won a number of accolades such as Michelin awards, and AA rosettes, to name but a few. When you mention the Ty’n Rhos Country House Hotel on the internet as we did when we were looking for places to stay, you’ll more than likely see high praise for a number of things. The quality of the rooms, the high levels of customer service, as well as the fact that the establishment is well and truly dog friendly.

It was enough for us – We headed to the Ty’n Rhos Country House Hotel in order to see what all the fuss was about.

As we approached the Ty’n Rhos Country House Hotel we were overwhelmed by everything around us. The Conwy Valley, even on the misty and somewhat cold day that we arrived at the country house – is a sight to be seen. The views up in this neck of the wood are absolutely picturesque, and the Ty’n Rhos is well and truly perfectly situated to enjoy them all. It very much feels like the Ty’n Rhos is built in the middle of the Conwy Valley, and it really isn’t hard to see why in the times of the Tudors, the original owners decided to build this inn right here.

As we checked in, we took notice of the amazing bar area. If you’re looking for a country pub, this is indeed it – the décor is very traditional, with wooden beams and traditional build, as well as a roaring fire right in the centre of it all. Personally, we feel that with country styled pubs it can sometimes feel not that quaint and more like untidy – but the Ty’n Rhos’ restaurant and bar is absolutely immaculate.

The staff are faultless, and are both efficient and helpful. Although the staff certainly know what they’re doing and the levels of service could easily rival that of far bigger hotels, we never once felt like we were shoved along or around. For us, the Ty’n Rhos staff do an excellent job of balancing being helpful and efficient with friendly, and no-one appreciated it more than the third member of our group – Daisy, our Irish setter, who took a very real liking to the receptionist at Ty’n Rhos, and an even larger liking to the treats she was given on arrival as well as the odd scratch behind the ear.

People say that dogs are very much the best judges of character, and the staff at the Ty’n Rhos received a very happy seal of approval from Daisy. There was something else that Daisy was rather taken with – our sleeping quarters for our short weekend stay.

When we saw our room, we were blown away. What appeared to be such a quaint little country bolthole from the downstairs turned into a hotel, with rooms with individual design, as well as every single feature which you’d need to make your stay perfect.

We were provided with fluffy slippers and dressing gowns (!) which were freshly laundered. The room itself consisted of a bed of the like which could comfortably fit us and even a fully-grown (and truthfully quite elderly at the ripe old age of 11) Irish setter, but what was most amazing about the entire experience was the views. We were informed at reception that the hotel part of Ty’n Rhos was actually an extension which was not part of the original building – and built to enjoy the stunning and sweeping panoramic views across the Conwy Estuary. Our room, alike the ground rooms, had its very own patio of which to enjoy.

All-in-all, the Ty’n Rhos Country House Hotel in Snowdonia is an amazing experience, and we can’t recommend it (especially for dog owners!) enough.
